Initially...

Initially, I honestly did not think this class or book would change the way I view things. I thought it would simply be a clinical observation of communication and why we use it.
However, after finishing up most of chapter one, I started to really consider how people communicate with others.

I realized that there are a lot of taboos in communication now. For example, you are generally not supposed to break up with your significant other via text message, or tell your parents you are getting married through an e-mail. In both of these cases, there is probably a much more appropriate method of conveying the message.

Not only did I start thinking about out "communication etiquette", but also the effect that each method has on the meaning of the message itself.
You could say the same thing through several communication mediums and get a drastically different result each time.

This concept kind of interested me, and made me eager to learn why this happens.
